Progressive antitrust has denounced, investigated or sued Big Chicken, Big Sandwich, Big Grocery, and Big Tech, of course. Now the FTC is suing to block Tempur Sealy’s acquisition of Mattress Firm, an American mattress store chain. The search for villains by the progressives is now entering its Cultural Revolution phase. But don’t lose any sleep over this. The absurdity of progressive antitrust’s overreach will spur a correction not least because this is a vertical merger. The companies are not competitors. At least that’s what I tell myself when I count sheep at night.
